Netflix have released the official trailer for the upcoming second season of sci-fi drama series Altered Carbon.
Altered Carbon is set in the year 2384, in a futuristic San Francisco known as Bay City. In the future, a person’s memories can be stored in a disk-shaped device called a cortical stack, which is implanted in the back of the neck. They can be placed into physical human beings or synthetic bodies known as ‘Sleeves’ and the stacks can be transferred to new bodies after death, but a person can still be killed if their stack is destroyed.
The second season finds Takeshi Kovacs, the lone surviving soldier of a group of elite interstellar warriors, continuing his centuries-old quest to find his lost love Quellcrist Falconer. After decades of planet-hopping and searching the galaxy, Kovacs finds himself recruited back to his home planet of Harlan’s World with the promise of finding Quell. Haunted by his past and responsible for investigating a series of brutal murders, Kovacs is stunned to discover his new mission to solve the crime and his pursuit to find Quell are one and the same. With the help of his loyal A.I. Poe, Kovacs must now partner with new allies to outwit his enemies and find the truth: Who is Quellcrist Falconer?
Alison Schapker and Laeta Kalogridis will serve as co-showrunners for the second season and it stars Anthony Mackie, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Chris Conner, Simone Missick, Dina Shihabi, Torben Liebrecht, James Saito and Lela Loren.
The second season of Altered Carbon will become on the streaming service from the 27th February 2020.
