The Suicide Squad: Daniela Melchior Joins Cast For DC Film

Variety is exclusively reporting that Daniela Melchior is the latest name to join the cast of the upcoming DC film The Suicide Squad.

The 2016 film, directed by David Ayer, followed villains such as Deadshot, Harley Quinn, the Joker, Captain Boomerang and Killer Croc, who are forced into the service of the government in exchange for lighter sentences. While the film was met with mixed reception critically, it would end up making $745m worldwide on its $175m budget.

In October of last year it was reported that James Gunn, after his firing from Guardians of the Galaxy 3 that summer over tweets from 2008 and 2009 resurfaced in which he made insensitive and controversial jokes, was brought on board by Warner Bros. to write the script for the Suicide Squad sequel.

Whilst plot details are being kept secret at the moment for the film, it’s believed that the new Suicide Squad will focus on characters such as Ratcatcher, Peacemaker, King Shark and Polka-Dot Man.

Daniela Melchior (whose credits include Valor da Vida and The Black Book) will be playing the role of Ratcatcher, who was originally portrayed as a man who was one of Batman’s many enemies in DC Comics, but sources say that the studio are making this portrayal a woman who will have some connection to whomever Elba will be playing.

Melchior will join a cast that includes Margot Robbie, Idris ElbaJohn Cena and David Dastmalchian.

The Suicide Squad is scheduled for cinematic release on the 6th August 2021.
