Deadline is reporting that Rowan Blanchard is the latest name to join the cast of TNT’s TV adaptation of Snowpiercer.
The television series is set seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland and the remnants of humanity inhabit a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe. The show will tackle issues such as class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival.
The report states that Rowan Blanchard (whose credits Girl Meets World and Splitting Up Together) will be playing the role of Alexandra, a self-assured 17-year-old, wise beyond her years, with mysterious connections to the history of Snowpiercer. It’s also been reported that while Blanchard’s role in the first season will be as a guest star capacity, she has an option to become a series regular if the series is renewed for a second season.
Snowpiercer also stars Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly, Mickey Sumner, Annalise Basso, Sasha Frolova, Alison Wright, Benjamin Haigh, Roberto Urbina, Katie McGuinness, Susan Park, Sam Otto, Sheila Vand, Lena Hall, Iddo Goldberg, Jaylin Fletcher, Steve Ogg, Timothy V. Murphy, Happy Anderson, Jonathan Lloyd Walker, Aleks Paunovic, Shaun Toub, Kerry O’Malley, Aaron Glenane and Fiona Vroom.
