Halo: Steven Kane To Serve As Showrunner Alongside Kyle Killen For TV Series At Showtime

The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Steven Kane has signed up to serve as second showrunner alongside Kyle Killen on Showtime’s television series adaptation of the video game franchise Halo.

Halo is set in the 26th Century, where humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant are at war, told primarily through the eyes of Master Chief. Halo will weave deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure and a richly imagined vision of the future.

THR’s sources say that the decision to bring in a second showrunner came about as Kyle Killen wanted to focus more on the big-budget production in the US, including writing and producing, leading to him and the network seeking to find a partner who is able to spend the better part of the year overseeing physical production in Budapest. The report also states that Killen is expected to be on set but not full time.

The Halo series has been in length pre-production, with Rupert Wyatt originally attached to direct a few episodes and serve as executive producer, but then departed the project in December last year. His replaced, Otto Bathurst, was officially announced last month, along with the news that the initial ten-episode series order was now trimmed down to nine for creative reasons.

Also serving as executive producers are Scott Pennington, Amblin TV’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank.

There is no official production start date as of yet for the series as casting has yet to be determined.
