Lionsgate have released the red band trailer for the upcoming Hellboy reboot.
Mike Mignola created Hellboy back in 1993, telling the story of a demon being raised by a professor, growing up to fight supernatural evil beings for an organisation known as the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. The upcoming reboot, formerly titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, will focus on Big Red squaring off against a medieval sorceress who seeks to destroy mankind.
Now that was much better than the first trailer. It felt much more in tone with what I was expecting from their initial pitch of mixing some horror elements with its dark humour and increasing the blood count in comparison to del Toro’s versions. While Harbour is a top choice to replace Perlman, I still feel like that might make or break this film for some people come opening weekend if they can accept Harbour’s take or still come out thinking ‘he’s no Ron Perlman though’. One thing the film has going in its favour is there’s some gorgeous imagery.
Hellboy is scheduled for cinematic release on the 12th April 2019.
