Deadline is reporting that STX has finalised a deal to secure the U.S rights for Guy Ritchie’s British crime drama Bush, formerly known as Toff Guys.
Toff Guys is set to explore the collision between European ‘old money’ and the modern marijuana industry. It follows a British drug lord attempting to cash out on his highly profitable empire by selling it off to a dynasty of Oklahoma billionaires.
The deal was sealed at this years EFM (European Film Market) in Berlin, with the reported amount being in the region of $7m plus a significant release commitment. The film is set to be in the same vein as his earlier work, such as Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, with Miramax buying the rights for the film last year at Cannes Film Festival for $30m. The film is currently in post-production, with the expectancy that it could potentially be released later in the year.
