Deadline is exclusively reporting that Charlene Amoia is the latest name to join the cast of the upcoming DC film Birds of Prey.
According to previous reports, the film will focus on Harley Quinn, Huntress and Black Canary teaming up to protect Cassandra Cain when she comes across a diamond belonging to Black Mask, a kingpin in Gotham City’s criminal underworld.
Charlene Amoia (whose credits include How I Met Your Mother and The Flash) will be playing the role of Maria Bertinelli, the mother of vigilante the Huntress (aka Helena Bertinelli) and the wife of mafia syndicate gangster Franco Bertinelli.
The script for the project is written by Christina Hodson, with Cathy Yan directing. Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap will be producing with Sue Kroll under her Kroll & Co Entertainment banner and Bryan Unkeless of Clubhouse Pictures.
Charlene Amoia will join a cast that includes Margot Robbie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Rosie Perez, Ewan McGregor, Ella Jay Basco, Chris Messina, Steven Williams, Derek Wilson, Dana Lee, Francois Chau and Matthew Willig.
Birds of Prey is scheduled for cinematic release on the 7th February 2020.
