Zombieland 2: Rosario Dawson Joins Cast For Horror Comedy Sequel

Deadline is exclusively reporting that Rosario Dawson is the latest name to join the cast of the Zombieland sequel at Sony Pictures.

The 2009 film was a horror/comedy road trip film that focused on four strangers that meet and eventually bond during a post-zombie-apocalypse. It was reported back in July that a longly-awaited sequel was finally confirmed to be in development.

The synopsis for the sequel is set to be as follows:

Through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, the Zombie slayers must face off against many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.

The report doesn’t state what role Rosario Dawson (whose recent credits include Luke Cage and Reign of the Supermen) will be playing in the Zombieland sequel. Ruben Fleischer will be returning to helm the sequel, while Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese return to pen the screenplay, with Gavin Polone returning to serve as producer.

Rosario Dawson will join a cast that includes Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, Zoey Deutch and Avan Jogia.

Zombieland 2 is scheduled for cinematic release on the 11th October 2019.
