Deadline has exclusively revealed the official trailer for the Irish boxing drama Float Like A Butterfly.
The film has us following a fifteen-year-old named Frances, who has been raised in roadside camps in rural Ireland and wants to become a boxing champion like her idol Muhammad Ali. But society is determined to break her spirit and destroy her way of life. And her father, once her greatest ally, is too defeated himself to imagine any better for his daughter. But Frances was not born to be broken. In the mother of all fights, she must dig deep to find in herself the Champion her father once knew her to be.
The drama recently picked up the FIPRESCI Discovery Prize at the Toronto Film Festival, as well as the Audience Award at the Cork Film Festival. The film is written and directed by Carmel Winters. Martina Niland serves as producer on the project under the Port Pictures banner alongside Samson Films’ David Collins, Cathleen Dore serves as co-producer and Lesley McKimm serves as executive producer under the Screen Ireland banner.
The film stars Hazel Doupe, Dara Devaney, Aidan O’Hare, Lalor Roddy, Hilda Fay, Packy Lee and Johnny Collins.
