Deadline is exclusively reporting that Avan Jogia is the latest name to join the cast of the Zombieland sequel at Sony Pictures.
The 2009 film was a horror/comedy road trip film that focused on four strangers that meet and eventually bond during a post-zombie-apocalypse. It was reported back in July that a longly-awaited sequel was finally confirmed to be in development.
The synopsis for the sequel is set to be as follows:
Through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, the Zombie slayers must face off against many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.
Avan Jogia (whose credits include Now Apocalypse and Victorious) will be playing the role of Berkeley, the epitome of the bad boy musician that you would hate for your daughter to fall in love with. Ruben Fleischer will be returning to helm the sequel, while Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese return to pen the screenplay, with Gavin Polone returning to serve as producer.
Avan Jogia will join a cast that includes Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin and Zoey Deutch.
Zombieland 2 is scheduled for cinematic release in October 2019.
