The synopsis for the film is as follows:
Simba idolises his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.
In terms of teasing everyone and drawing them in, the recreation of the Circle of Life opening with modern technology, and having James Earl Jones voiceover the trailer as Mufasa, it automatically takes you back to Pride Rock and it will have them hooked in already into purchasing a ticket to revisit The Lion King. Whether the film will be good or not is an entirely different thing to answer, but as a teaser…..well done.
The voice cast involved includes Donald Glover, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen, John Kani, John Oliver, Alfre Woodard, Florence Kasumba, Eric Andre and Keegan-Michael Key.
The Lion King is scheduled for cinematic release on the 19th July 2019.
