Deadline is reporting that Peter Gallagher and Jennifer Beals are the latest names to join the cast of the film adaptation of Anna Todd’s YA novel series After.
After focuses on the journey of self-discovery and sexual awakening of Tessa, a dedicated student, dutiful daughter and loyal girlfriend to her High School sweetheart. When she enters her first year of University with grand ambitions for her future, her guarded world opens when she meets the dark and mysterious Hardin Scott, a brooding rebel.
Peter Gallagher (whose recent credits include A Bad Moms Christmas and Grace & Frankie) Ken Scott, Hardin’s father and the chancellor of the University Hardin and Tessa attend. He and his son have a rocky relationship stemming from something traumatic that happened during Hardin’s childhood. Jennifer Beals (whose recent credits include The Last Tycoon and Taken) will be playing the role of Karen Gibson, the mother of Landon), who marries Ken and develops a close relationship with Tessa, and who also wants to help Ken mend his relationship with Hardin.
Gallery Books has published five books in the series, which has sold over ten million copies across fourty countries worldwide. Jenny Gage will be helming the film adaptation, with the script written by Susan McMartin. The film is being produced by Courtney Solomon and Mark Canton of CalMaple Films, Jennifer Gibgot of Offspring Entertainment, and Anna Todd and Aron Levitz of Wattpad. Nicolas Chartier, Jonathan Deckter, Meadow Williams, Swen Temmel, Adam Shankman and Scott Karol will serve as executive producers.
