The official synopsis for the film is as follows:
Following the events of Justice League, Arthur Curry, the reluctant ruler of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, is caught in a battle between surface dwellers that threaten his oceans and his own people, who are ready to lash out and invade the surface.
I love the look of Atlantis that we get from this trailer here, as well as what it looks like when the characters are interacting with one another underwater (none of that bubble opening stuff from Justice League here). The underwater battle sequence we get in the end looks uniquely different with most of the special effects looking great. Speaking of looking great, I’m loving the look of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the Black Manta suit. Jason Momoa is a real-life rock star in my eyes and there’s more glimpses of that ‘Aquabro’-isms in here that I’m not too sure whether that’ll have a positive or negative affect on general audiences. We’ve seen the reluctant hero story plenty of times before, but I’m sure that it’s in safe hands with James Wan and how he plans to tell it.
Aquaman is scheduled for cinematic release on the 21st December 2018.
