The pilot is set seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland and the remnants of humanity inhabit a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe. The show will tackle issues such as class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival. In addition to production starting soon on the pilot, the project is getting backup scripts written.
The report states that Susan Park (whose credits include Vice Principals and Fresh Off The Boat) will be playing the role of Jinju, the finest chef at the train’s finest restaurant, and a member of the train’s elite.
The pilot will be co-produced by Tomorrow Studios and Studio T, with Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and the Avatar sequels) tapped to write the script for the series adaptation and become executive producer and showrunner if the pilot is given a series commitment at TNT. Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements will serve as Executive Producers of the pilot, alongside the original film’s Bong Joon-ho, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun and Dooho Choi. Scott Derrickson is directing the pilot.
