Black: Studio 8 To Adapt Comic For The Big Screen

Deadline is exclusively reporting that Studio 8 are adapting Black Mask Studios comic book series Black into a feature film.

Black has just wrapped its initial six-issue run and starts with a police shooting in Brooklyn in which teenager Kareem Jenkins survives a hail of bullets and discovers that he is alot more powerful than he ever knew. As Jenkins connects with others who share similar powers, a widespread oppressive global conspiracy to keep the knowledge of such superpowers from the world and especially blacks themselves in unveiled to all.

The series is created by Kwanza Osajyefo and Tim Smith, Black started off as an idea that black superpowers have been hidden from the world and was helped to life early last year from a quickly funded Kickstarter campaign. Now, Osajyefo and Smith are attached to the project as co-producers, while Black Mask Studios’ Matteo Pizzolo is also attached to serve as producer.
