Deadline is exclusively reporting that Adam Huss, Madeline Zima and Grant Bowler have signed to star in Roxy Shih’s indie drama Painkillers.
The film is set to follow brilliant surgeon John Clarke who, after a terrible car crash in which his son dies, is tormented by guilt and becomes prey to an unbearable physical pain. While his marriage starts disintegrating, John soon finds out that they only thing that can ease his pain is the taste of human blood. When he encounters Herb Morris, a man who claims he can help him get his life back, John embarks upon a nightmarish journey through which he will either have to come to terms with his pain or become a monster.
It is revealed in the report that Debra Wilson and Naomi Grossman will also co-star in the film. The script is written by Giles Daoust, with Luke Barnett and Vincent Masciale will serve as producers under their Lone Suspect banner alongside Daoust and Catherine Dumonceaux from Title Media. Alain Berliner and Mike Macari are serving as executive producers on the project, which begins shooting in Los Angeles next week.
