Deadline is reporting that former MMA fighter Urijah Faber is the latest name to join the cast of New Line’s video game film Rampage starring Dwayne Johnson.
Like the video game itself, the film will feature three creatures – a monstrously transformed gorilla, a wolf and a crocodile – who wreak havoc on North American cities and landmarks. Primatologist David Okoye (Dwayne Johnson), shares an unshakeable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent gorilla. A rogue genetic experiment gone awary transform this gentle ape into a raging monster and Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote. The report doesn’t state what role Urijah Faber will have in the film.
Rampage is being directed by Brad Peyton and also has Beau Flynn attached to produce. Others attached to produce are John Rickard, Hiram Garcia, with Marcus Viscidi, Jeff Fierson and Dany Garcia serving as executive producers. Urijah Faber will be joining a cast that includes Naomie Harris, Joe Manganiello, Marley Shelton, Jake Lacy, Breanne Hill, P.J Byrne, Jack Quaid, Matt Gerald, Malin Akerman and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Rampage is scheduled for cinematic release on the 20th April 2018.
