Deadline is reporting that Ben Lawson has joined the cast of Designated Survivor as a series regular for its upcoming second season.
The series has us following Tom Kirkman, a lower-level cabinet member who is suddenly appointed President of the United States after a catastrophic attack on the US Capitol during the State of the Union. Kirkman now finds himself thrust into a role he never wanted. He must struggle to keep the country and his own family from falling apart, while navigating the highly-volatile political arena and while leading the search to find who is responsible for the attack.
Ben Lawson (whose credits include The Deep End and Doubt) will be playing the role of Damian Rennett, an MI-6 operative who meets Hannah while posing as a Dutchman in Amsterdam. Their relationship begins with mutual wariness, morphs into competitiveness and is complicated by an irresistible mutual attraction.
He’ll be joining recently cast Paulo Costanzo and original cast members Kiefer Sutherland, Natasha McElhone, Adan Canto, Italia Ricci, LaMonica Garrett, Tanner Buchanan, Kal Penn and Maggie Q.
