Deadline is reporting that Paulo Costanzo will be joining Designated Survivor as a series regular for its upcoming second season.
The series has us following Tom Kirkman, a lower-level cabinet member who is suddenly appointed President of the United States after a catastrophic attack on the US Capitol during the State of the Union. Kirkman now finds himself thrust into a role he never wanted. He must struggle to keep the country and his own family from falling apart, while navigating the highly-volatile political arena and while leading the search to find who is responsible for the attack.
Paulo Costanzo (whose credits include Royal Pains and The Night Of) will be playing the role of Lyor Boone, brought on board by Emily to become the new White House Political Director and help a presidency struggling with its messaging and political strategy. While President Kirkman has mixed feeling about Lyor, his talent and value are undeniable. His cynicism inevitably will clash with Kirkman’s idealism, but it cannot be denied that if Kirkman wants Americans to believe in their government again, they have to believe in him and Lyor Boone can help with that.
Designated Survivor stars Kiefer Sutherland, Natasha McElhone, Adan Canto, Italia Ricci, LaMonica Garrett, Tanner Buchanan, Kal Penn and Maggie Q.
