Toni Erdmann: Lena Dunham And Jenni Konner In Talks To Write Remake For Paramount

The Tracking Board is exclusively reporting that Girls duo Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner are in talks to pen the script for Paramount’s Toni Erdmann remake.

The original German comedy focused on a practical joking father trying to reconnect with his hard working daughter by creating an outrageous alter ego and posing as her CEO’s life coach. The film starred Peter Simonischek and Sandra Hüller would go on to earn an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year.

It’s still believed that Jack Nicholson is being citied to play the role of the father, while Kristen Wiig is being citied to play the role of the daughter in this English-language remake. Currently there is no director attached to the project. Adam McKay, Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum are serving as producers under their Gloria Sanchez Productions banner, with Toni Erdmann writer-director Maren Ade will serve as an executive producer alongside original producers Jonas Dornbach and Janine Jackowski.
