Netflix Acquires Dan Gilroy’s Untitled Drama Starring Jake Gyllenhaal And Rene Russo

Deadline is exclusively reporting that Netflix have acquired the rights for Dan Gilroy’s untitled art drama filming, reuniting with Nightcrawler stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo.


The trio worked together on 2014 film Nightcrawler, which focused on Jake Gyllenhaal playing  Louis Bloom, a driven man desperate for work, muscles into the world of L.A. crime journalism, he blurs the line between observer and participant to become the star of his own story. Aiding him in his effort is Nina, a TV-news veteran, played by Rene Russo. The film earned an Oscar Nomination for Best Original Screenplay.


It was reported last week that the project was in the works with the film set in the art world and while multiple buyers were trying to get the hot package, Scott Stuber’s feature film division at Netflix were able to land the film, which is set to get a small theatrical release just before it’s released on the streaming service.
