Watchmen: Damon Lindelof In Talks To Adapt Comic Book Series For HBO

The Hollywood Reporter and Variety are reporting that The Leftovers creator Damon Lindelof is in early talks to develop an adaptation of the comic book series Watchmen for HBO.

Watchmen is set in a universe in which costumed heroes in the mid-20th Century have altered the course of history, such as leading the US to victory in Vietnam and a Nixon presidency that stretched into the mid-1980’s, we follow a group of crimefighters investigating the murder of one of their own. In the process, Doctor Manhattan, Nite Owl, Silk Spectre and Rorschach, uncover a conspiracy with enormous implications.

THR states in their report that Zack Snyder, who directed the 2009 feature film adaptation of Alan Moore’s comic, is not attached anymore to the project from Warner Bros. Television. This is HBO’s second attempt to develop the source material, as they tweaked with developing the idea back in 2014.
