The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Sofia Boutella has signed up to star in HBO Films adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s classic novel Fahrenheit 451.
The drama based on Bradbury’s 1953 dystopian novel depicts a future where media is an opiate, history is outlawed and ‘firemen’ burn books. A young fireman named Montag forsakes his world, battles his mentor Beatty and struggles to regain his humanity.
The report states that Sofia Boutella (whose credits include Star Trek Beyond and The Mummy) will be playing the female lead role Clarisse, an informant caught between the competing interests of Montag and Beatty. Ramin Bahrani is attached to direct the telepic and co-write the script with Amir Naderi. David Coatsworth will serve as a producer on the project, while Michael B. Jordan will serve as an executive producer under his Outlier Productions banner alongside Brace Cove Productions’ Sarah Green, Alan Gasmer and Peter Jaysen.
