Bumblebee: Hailee Steinfeld In Talks For Lead Role In Transformers Spinoff

Variety is exclusively reporting that Hailee Steinfeld is in talks with Paramount to play the lead role in the first Transformers spinoff film Bumblebee.

While not much is known about the premise of the Bumblebee film, the script has been penned by Christina Hodson who was one of those that was in a writers room at Paramount, coming up with ideas on how to expand the mythology of the Transformers cinematic universe back in the summer of 2015.

Back in March it was reported that Kubo and the Two Strings director, Travis Knight, was attached to the project, which will mark his live-action directorial debut here. The report states that the lead role which Hailee Steinfeld is in negotiations for is being kept under wraps at the moment. Her credits include True Grit, Pitch Perfect 2 and The Edge of Seventeen. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg will serve as Producers on the Bumblebee film.

So far with the names being attached to this spinoff project within the Transformers universe has me curiosity and attention at this point. With fresh eyes behind the lens in Travis Knight and potentially having Steinfeld in the lead role after her performance in Edge of Seventeen, I’m not as against the idea as I initially was when the project was announced.
