Variety is exclusively reporting that Kellan Lutz, Matthew Modine, James Remar and Amaury Nolasco are the latest names to join the cast of of speedboat racing drama Speed Kills.
Speed Kills is inspired by the life of speedboat racing champion Donald Aronow, who also created boat brands including Donzi Marine, Blue Thunder and Cigarette.
Kellan Lutz (whose credits include Extraction and Money) will be playing the role of Aronow’s boating rival who also smuggles drugs and has ties to the mafia. Matthew Modine (whose credits include Stranger Things and Army of One) will be playing the role of one of Aronow’s closest friends George H.W Bush. James Remar (whose credits include The Shannara Chronicles and The Path) will be playing the role of mobster Meyer Lansky. Amaury Nolasco (whose credits include Prison Break and Criminal) will be playing the role of a DEA Agent.
John Luessenhop will be directing the drama on a script he co-wrote with David Aaron Cohen. Production is set to commence at the end of May, shooting in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Miami Beach, Florida. Hannibal Classics’ Richard Rionda Del Castro will be serving as producer on the film alongside Oscar Generale and Luillo Ruiz from the Pimienta Film Company in Puerto Rico. John Travolta will also be executive producing alongside Anson Downes, Linda Favila, Walter Josten, Patricia Eberle, Cam Cannon, Lindsey Roth, Farouk Hadef, Jamal Sannan and Grace Collins.
They’ll be joining a cast that includes John Travolta, Mira Sorvino, Jordi Molla and Katheryn Winnick.
