Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D: Renewed For Fifth Season At ABC

Media outlets are reporting that Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has been renewed for a fifth season at ABC.

The series started out after the events of the first Avengers film, where the Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement: Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D.) needs a team of agents to find out and fix alien events. This team includes Ward, May, Skye, Simmons, Fitz, and a resurrected Agent Phil Coulson.

This season the series has only averaged 2.4 million weekly viewers and a 0.7 demo rating this season, but it has gained a 129% boost on DVR playback and still ranks solidly amongst some other ABC dramas. However the fourth season has been praised for its creative storytelling, breaking down into three distinct chapters (like Gotham has been doing): Ghost Rider, LMD, and Agents of Hydra, making the stories more contained and less focused on traditional big bad arcs.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D stars Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen,, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Henry Simmons and Jason O’Mara.
