Deadline is exclusively reporting that Walton Goggins has joined the cast for 20th Century Fox’s Maze Runner: The Death Cure.
The third installment in the Maze Runner franchise, the Death Cure has us following Thomas, embarking on a mission to find a cure to a deadly disease known as the Flare. Walton Goggins (whose recent credits include television series Six and film Diablo) will be playing the role of Lawrence, an unusual and dangerous character who is part-revolutionary, part-anarchist and a voice for the voiceless people.
The films are based on James Dashner’s novel trilogy, with the first film making $348m worldwide at the box office, with sequel The Scorch Trials earning $312m worldwide. Wes Ball, who directed the first two, is back to direct this one. Production for the film was delayed previously after Dylan O’Brien suffered an injury on set, but now production has commenced again in South Africa.
Maze Runner: The Death cure stars Dylan O’Brien, Nathalie Emmanuel, Kaya Scodelario, Giancarlo Esposito, Katherine McNamara, Ki Hong Lee, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Jacob Lofland, Rosa Salazar and Barry Pepper.
Maze Runner: The Death Cure is scheduled for cinematic release on the 9th February 2018.
