Marvel has announced that Janet McTeer has signed up for a key role in the upcoming second season of Jessica Jones on Netflix.
The first season focused on Jessica Jones trying to rebuild her life as a private detective in Hell’s Kitchen that has superhuman strength and flight. Jessica is battling with her demons and PTSD and one day learns that the man that caused her such pain that she believed to be dead, Kilgrave, is alive and well.
Marvel’s Head of Television and Executive Producer, Jeph Loeb said:
We are so fortunate to have an actress of Janet’s talent and stature join what is already an incredible cast. Our second season of ‘Marvel’s Jessica Jones’ aims to capture what audiences loved about our first, and Janet will be key to achieving that goal.

We couldn’t possibly be more excited to work with Ms. McTeer for our second season. Her gravitas and authenticity are the perfect ingredients for all we’re trying to create this year. The report doesn’t state who Janet McTeer will play in the upcoming second season, though does say that the character who will have an enormous impact on Jessica’s life. Janet McTeer has earned two Oscar nominations in her career with performances in Tumbleweeds (which earned her a Golden Globe) and Albert Nobbs, as well as earning a couple of Golden Globe nominations including her performances in Into The Storm and The White Queen.
