Variety is exclusively reporting that Golden Brooks is the latest name to join the cast of Fox’s adaptation of Alexandra Bracken’s YA trilogy Darkest Minds.
Darkest Minds is set in an America where a pandemic has killed most of the children and teenagers, the story tells of teens with superpowers who are taken from their families and placed inside internment camps.
Golden Brooks (whose credits include Girlfriends and Hart of Dixie) will be playing the role of Ruby’s mother Molly Daly. The sci-fi film is set to begin shooting later this month in Atlanta. Jennifer Yuh Nelson, who directed the Kung Fu Panda films, will be making her live-action directorial feature debut with this project, which is being produced by Shawn Levy and his 21 laps banner. Gibson will be joining a cast that includes Amandla Stenberg and Mandy Moore.
