The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais and Tiger Chen will be teaming up for the first time on the big screen in action film Triple Threat.
The film centres on the story of a billionaire’s daughter becomes the target of a mercenary cartel. Her only protection are two down-on-their-luck fighters and a third who has vowed revenge against the others.
Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais and Tiger Chen will be playing the protagonists and will be squaring up against antagonists being played by Scott Adkins, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping and Michael Jai White.
Tony Jaa released a statement saying:
I cannot tell you how excited I am about this film, it is unique. I don’t think anyone has seen a cast like this in a generation.
The project initially was being setup last year but the project fell apart. It was reconstituted with a new director, script and setting, with Mexico originally being the destination in the previous version, as well as making a new set of bad guys for the heroes to fight.
The film will be directed by Jesse Johnson for Arclight Films, with Shanghai Aurora Alliance financing the film. Mike Selby of SC Films International will be serving as producer on the film alongside Arclight’s Mike Gabrawy and Gary Hamilton, as well as Tiger Chen, Elliot Tong and Ying Ye. The project is set to eye up production starting in Bangkok in April.
