Deadline is reporting that Peter Fonda has signed up for a role in Amazon’s straight-to-series drama Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.
Jack Ryan will be reinvented with a modern sensibility of the famed hero from Tom Clancy, focusing on him as an up-and-coming CIA analyst thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time. The series will follow him uncovering a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the centre of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.
Peter Fonda (whose credits include Easy Rider and recently Borderland) will be playing the role of Cathy Mueller’s father. Though it’s currently for guest starring in the opening episode, the report states that there’s potential for Fonda to return for subsequent episodes as the storyline for Cornish’s character further develops as Jack’s love interest over the course of the season.
Jack Ryan is co-produced by Paramount TV and Skydance TV, with Carlton Cuse, Graham Roland serving as Executive Producers alongside Platinum Dunes’ Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross, along with the film franchise’s producer Mace Neufeld and Lindsey Springer of Carlton Cuse Productions. The trio will join already cast John Krasinski, Abbie Cornish, Wendell Pierce, Dina Shihabi, Ali Suliman and Marie-Josée Croze.
