Marvel have announced that Game of Thrones star Iwan Rheon has been cast in the lead role of ABC’s Marvel’s Inhumans television series.
Marvel’s Inhumans will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family, along with a race of superhumans with diverse and singularly unique powers. Rheon (whose other credits include Misfits and Vicious) will be playing the role of Maximus, a clever and charming Inhuman who is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan, especially his brother, the King – though he harbours an intense desire to wear the crown himself.
Head of Marvel Television and Executive Producer, Jeph Loeb said:
Iwan’s ability to be charming, roguish, and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We’re thrilled to have him on board.
Executive producer and showrunner, Scott Buck added:
Maximus is a complex character. Likable, charming, tragic and villainous all in the same moment, and I’m very excited to have someone of Iwan’s considerable talent.
The straight-to-series show will have its first two episodes premiere exclusively in IMAX theatres for two weeks in September 2017, prior to the show starts on the network. Roel Reine will direct the first two episodes, while Scott Buck and Jeph Loeb will serve as executive producers alongside Jim Chory.
