Jon Favreau met with Donald Glover during a roundtable discussing in December for The Hollywood Reporter. James Earl Jones meanwhile will be reprising the role he iconically voiced in the 1994 animated feature.
The Lion King still remains one of the biggest animated films of all time over twenty years later, with a worldwide box office total around the $968m mark, winning two Oscars and three Golden Globes in the process.
I must say while I’m excited for Glover that he’s landed the Simba role, I’m absolutely bloody happy that James Earl Jones will be reprising his talents again as Mufasa. It makes me curious now whether or not they’ll be doing their best to have Jeremy Irons returned to reprise his vocal talents for Scar or if they’ll go with someone entirely different.
