Shazam: David F. Sandberg In Talks To Direct DC Film For New Line

Film News - Shazam - David F. Sandberg In Talks To Direct DC Film For New LineTheWrap is exclusively reporting that New Line is in talks with David F. Sandberg to direct their DC film Shazam.

Shazam is one of the oldest comic characters around, originally known as Captain Marvel. It focused on a young teenager, Billy Batson, who becomes the superhero when he utters the magic word ‘Shazam!’. The name is an acronym for six gods and heroes of the ancient world as well as their attributes: the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Aries, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles and the speed of Mercury.

Dwayne Johnson is currently the only actor attached to the project, playing the villain Black Adam who will also be getting his own solo outing. David F. Sandberg has directed a number of short films, including the one that he adapts for the big screen which became one of the big horror film hits of 2016 Lights Out.

Sandberg is definitely a interesting choice of director for the Shazam property and it’ll be interesting to see if this will be confirmed that he’s signed within the next few weeks and also when will they eventually cast the title role?
