Media outlets tonight are reporting that Netflix have ordered an eight-episode second season of Zal Batmanglij’s and Brit Marling’s The OA.
The series follows Brit Marling character Prairie Johnson, an adopted blind woman who goes missing for seven years. When she suddenly turns up alive, she can see, has unexplained scars on her back, and refers to herself as the OA. Rather than explains things to her parents or the authorities, she reveals her secrets to some locals and gives them her life story. Ultimately, she seeks their help in finding other missing people.
The OA also stars Jason Isaacs, Emory Cohen, Scott Wilson, Alice Krige, Patrick Gibson, Brandon Meyer, Brandon Perea, Ian Alexander and Phyllis Smith. While I wasn’t a major fan of the ending to Season 1, I was very much riveted by the storytelling behind The OA and I’m intrigued on whether the story will go where I might think it will go or if there will be more mind-fuckery to be had.
