The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that RLJ Entertainment have acquired the U.S rights for Irish action-thriller Pilgrimage.
Pilgrimage is set in 13th Century Ireland and follows a small group of monks as they undertake a treacherous pilgrimage to escort their monastery’s holiest relic to Rome. But as the true material, political and religious significance of the relic is revealed, the group’s journey becomes increasingly dangerous.
RLJ’s chief acquisitions officer Mark Ward released a statement saying:
This is the kind of elevated genre film that action fans across the country have been waiting to see. With a stellar cast led by Jon, Richard and Tom, we are very excited to bring this film to theatres nationwide.
Ahead of the start of the European Film Market in Berlin, RLJ has sealed the deal with a seven-figure sum to acquire the U.S rights for the film. Brendan Muldowney (Savage and Love Eternal) directed the film on a script penned by Jamie Hannigan, with Conor Barry and John Keville of Dublin-based Savage Productions serving as producers alongside Benoit Roland of Wrong Men. XYZ Films will executive produce the film which stars Richard Armitage, Jon Bernthal and Tom Holland.
