Deadline is exclusively reporting that Joey King and Molly Ringwald are starring in The Kissing Booth, Netflix’s film adaptation of Beth Reekles’ Young-Adult Novel.
The romantic comedy, which is currently shooting in South Africa, will focus on Elle Evans, a sixteen-year-old girl who’s popular and loves to party but has never been kissed. Things turn when she ends-up in a kissing booth at Spring Carnival, facing her long-term crush Noah….her best friend’s bother. The course of love never did run smoothly and the narrative charts the ups-and-downs of infatuation, as Elle is swept-up in a romance with the hottest boy in school.
Vince Marcello is directing the film on the screenplay that he penned, with Komixx Media serving as Producers on the project. Joey King will be seen next on the big screen in Board Green’s Wish Upon, while Molly Ringwald will be seen soon on the small screen as she has a recurring role on CW’s Riverdale.
