Variety exclusively reports that Laura Vandervoort and Hannah Anderson are the first actors announced for Lionsgate’s Saw: Legacy, the eighth instalment in the franchise.
The Saw franchise revolves around John Kramer, also known as the ‘Jigsaw Killer’ or ‘Jigsaw’, who traps victims in situations that test their will to live. The franchise began back in 2004 when James Wan’s directorial feature debut was released by Lionsgate, produced by Twisted Pictures, which has now totalled seven films in the franchise, grossing more than $870m worldwide overall.
Saw: Legacy, which is the first Saw film in seven years, is being directed by the sibling team of Peter and Michael Spierig on a script penned by Pete Goldfinger, Josh Stolberg, James Wan and Leigh Whannell. Mark Burg, Gregg Hoffman and Oren Koules will once again serve as Producers on the film, which they have also produced all the other Saw films.
Saw: Legacy is scheduled for cinematic release on the 27th October 2017 in the US, while international audiences will have to wait till early 2018.
