In a press release, Disney said:
We have the greatest fans in this or any other galaxy. In appreciation of the fans, we wanted them to be the first to know the title of the next chapter in the Skywalker saga: Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski.
The next instalment sees the return of The Force Awakens cast members Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker and Mark Hamill, as well as The Last Jedi cast members Benicio Del Toro, Lauren Dern and Kelly Marie Tran. While it may feel a generic title to some, others are speculating on whether the red font will lead to some Sith time on show or if it’s just a case of the heroes are going to be in for a bad time in the next instalment.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is scheduled for cinematic release on the 15th December 2017.
