Variety exclusively reports that Woody Harrelson is in early talks with Disney to join the cast in the upcoming Star Wars standalone film about Han Solo.
The standalone Han Solo film, expected to be called Han Solo: A Star Wars Story in order to distinguish it from the Episode saga, is being directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. This standalone film portrays Lando in his formative years as a scoundrel on the rise in the galaxy’s underworld — years before the events involving Han, Leia, and Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back and his rise to Rebel hero in Return of the Jedi. The report states that Harrelson is the top choice to play Han Solo’s mentor for the upcoming film, though the studio have made no comment on the news circulating the web. The film is set to begin production this month.
