12 Monkeys: James Callis Joins Cast For Season 3

TV News - 12 Monkeys - James Callis Joins Cast For Season 3Entertainment Weekly exclusively reports that James Callis has signed up for a recurring role in the upcoming third season of Syfy series 12 Monkeys.

The only details coming out from Syfy at the minute about the third season is that we find Cole and Railly embarking on a desperate search across time to find the man responsible for the apocalypse, a time traveler who calls himself the Witness. Killing the Witness will mean saving the world, but the journey will come at tremendous personal stakes for the two and will call into question new alliances, old bonds, and the virtue of the mission itself.

James Callis, mostly known for his roles as Dr. Gaius Baltar in Battlestar Galactica and Tom in the Bridget Jones films, is said to be playing the role of, according to Executive Producer Terry Matalas:

A highly anticipated and pivotal new character to our series’ mythology.

Callis described the character as a:

Rebellious and enigmatic time-traveler raised throughout history by the Army of the 12 Monkeys, one whose conflicted personal and emotional path will change everything for James Cole and Dr. Cassandra Railly.

While I’m intrigued to see what Callis will bring to the table in the third season, is it too much of a stretch to believe that he could actually be playing the Witness? Recently confirmed to appear in the upcoming third season is Christopher Lloyd.
