Tomb Raider: Walton Goggins Set To Be Cast As Villain

Film News - Tomb Raider - Walton Goggins Set To Be Cast As VillainVariety is exclusively reporting that Walton Goggins is in final negotiations with MGM and GK Films to star opposite Alicia Vikander in the big screen reboot of Tomb Raider.

This film will tell the story of a young and untested Lara Croft fighting to survive her first adventure. Directing the film is Roar Uthaug who directed the Norwegian disaster film The Wave.

Tomb Raider started off as a video game franchise back in 1996 which was then rebooted in 2013 and it also managed to spawn off into two feature films in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003) which had Angelina Jolie in the Lara Croft role.

The report states that Goggins would play the antagonist in the film. Currently Norwegian director Roar Uthaug is attached to helm the film. It’s no secret to anyone that knows me that I’ll watch Goggins in anything he’s in since The Shield days and I believe he’s a tremendous character actor. We know that he has the dramatic chops and recently discovered in HBO’s Vice Principals that he has got some really good comedic chops too. With seal drama mini-series 6 coming out next year, more big screen roles for Goggins is a good thing.

Tomb Raider is scheduled for cinematic release on the 16th March 2018.
