She’s Gotta Have It will be a contemporary update of Lee’s 1986 indie film that will have us following Nola Darling, a Brooklyn-based artist in her late 20’s struggling to define herself divide her time amongst her friends, her three lovers: the cultured model Greer Childs, the protective investment banker Jamie Overstreet and da original B-Boy sneakerhead Mars Blackmon, who still wears Jordans but is now a social-media phenomenon.
Spike Lee is directing all ten episodes of the series, which he created and Executive Producers alongside his wife Tonya Lewis Lee. Director will playing the role of Bianca, a character not in the original film and new to the updated series. Director is no stranger to working with Spike Lee, having starred in his films He Got Game, Summer of Sam, Bamboozled, She Hate Me and Inside Man. She will be seen next on the big screen in M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming thriller Split. Kim Director will be joining a cast that includes DeWanda Wise, Cleo Anthony, Lyriq Bent, Anthony Ramos, Chyna Layne and Ilfenesh Hadera.
