The official synopsis for the film is as follows:
First there was an opportunity……then there was a betrayal. Twenty years have gone by. Much has changed but just as much remains the same. Mark Renton returns to the only place he can ever call home. They are waiting for him: Spud, Sick Boy and Begbie. Other old friends are waiting too: sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine, self-destruction and mortal danger, they are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.
Admittedly I was skeptical originally when it was announced that a Trainspotting sequel was finally coming but after seeing this trailer which is finally showing us new footage of the old gang back together, even Kelly Macdonald’s Diane. With a new spin on the ‘Choose Life’ monologue from the original film, T2: Trainspotting could actually be a sequel that timed itself perfectly for release rather than being a sequel that came out too long.
T2: Trainspotting is scheduled for cinematic release (UK) on the 27th January 2017 and the 10th February 2017 (US).
