The Hollywood Reporter reports that Stana Katic is in final negotiations to play the lead role in Absentia, a ten-episode straight-to-series crime thriller greenlighted by Sony Pictures Television Networks’ AXN.
The series will follow an FBI Agent (who will be played by Katic when the deal is agreed) who disappears while hunting one of Boston’s most notorious serial killers. Six years pass and while she is declared dead, she is found in a cabin in the woods, barely alive and with no memory of the years she was missing. Returning home to learn her husband has remarried and her son is being raised by another woman, she finds herself implicated in a new series of murders.
Matt Cirulnick will serve as Executive Producer on the project, with Tel-Aviv-based Masha TV’s Maria Feldman, Oded Ruskin (will who direct all ten episodes) and Julie Glucksman will serve as Producers for AXN. The series is based on a script originally written by Gaia Violo. Production is set to commence early in the new year and will premiere worldwide via AXN sometime in 2017.
