She’s Gotta Have It: Lyriq Bent Cast In Lead Role For Spike Lee’s Netflix Series


tv-news-shes-gotta-have-it-lyriq-bent-cast-in-lead-role-for-spike-lees-netflix-seriesDeadline exclusively reports that Lyriq Bent has been cast in one of the lead roles opposite DeWanda Wise in Spike Lee’s Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It.

 

She’s Gotta Have It will be a contemporary update of Lee’s 1986 indie film that will have us following Nola Darling (DeWanda Wise), a Brooklyn-based artist in her late 20’s struggling to define herself divide her time amongst her friends, her three lovers: the cultured model Greer Childs (Cleo Anthony), the protective investment banker Jamie Overstreet and da original B-Boy sneakerhead Mars Blackmon (Anthony Ramos), who still wears Jordans but is now a social-media phenomenon.

 

Spike Lee is directing all ten episodes of the series, which he created and Executive Producers alongside his wife Tonya Lewis Lee. Lyriq Bent will be playing the role of protective investment banker Jamie Overstreet, originally portrayed by  Tommy Redmond Hicks in the 1986 indie film. Bent’s credits include Rookie Blue, The Book of Negroes and Shoot the Messenger.
