The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Taylor Kitsch has joined the cast of CBS Films and Lionsgate’s action thriller American Assassin, playing the role of the villain.
American Assassin is based on Vince Flynn’s best-selling book series focusing on Mitch Rapp, an Arab linguistics student who joins the CIA as an assassin after his girlfriend is killed by a terrorist attack. He will be guided by a reluctant mentor, a Cold War veteran, when the two are enlisted by the CIA to investigate a wave of apparently random attacks on both military and civilian targets, the tracks lead to a mysterious operative intent on starting a World War in the Middle East.
Back in May it was reported that Dylan O’Brien would be playing the role of Mitch Rapp, while Michael Keaton will be playing the role of Mitch’s mentor. Taylor Kitsch will be playing the role of the villainous operative in question. Shooting for the film is aimed to begin in September, taking place in London and Budapest. Michael Cuesta is directing the film on Stephen Schiff’s penned the adapted screenplay and Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Nick Wechsler serving as Producers.
