After they released a teaser a few days ago, Paramount Pictures have released the official trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming sci-fi drama Arrival.
The synopsis for Arrival is as follows:
When mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team – lead by expert linguist Louise Banks – are brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers – and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.
The trailer just does about enough to be intriguing and seem to spoil any major details, showing that this looks set to be a slow-burn sci-fi film with potentially a big payoff in the final act. While the cast is immense, I’m mainly on board seeing this film because of the director. Denis Villeneuve’s films the last few years (Prisoners and Sicario) have been great in my view and I’ll need to burn through the rest of his filmography before this film is released. The cast of Arrival includes Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker, Michael Stuhlbarg, Tzi Ma and Mark O’Brien.
Arrival is scheduled for cinematic release on the 11th November 2016.
