TV News - Supergirl - Chris Wood Revealed To Play Mon-El In Season 2The CW revealed at the Television Critics Association summer press tour that Chris Wood will be playing the role of Mon-El in the upcoming second season of Supergirl on the CW Network.

 

Back in mid-July it was announced that Chris Wood had joined the cast, though the role was kept a secret for a while as it became clear that Wood’s would be playing the character that Supergirl finds in a Kryptonian escape pod on the outskirts of National City in the Season 1 cliffhanger. In the comics Mon-El, also known as Lar Gand, is a Daxamite.  Mon-El has a similar power set to Superman but has a weakness to lead instead of Kryptonite.  Mon-El is often portrayed as a member of the Legion of Superheroes – a superpowered team from the far-flung future of the DC Universe. Whether the Legion will appear in the future of the DC/CW universe remains to be seen.

 

Also joining the cast of this upcoming season is original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter as President of the United States, Ian Gomez as CatCo editor-in-chief Snapper Carr, Floriana Lima as gay Metropolis Special Crimes Unit captain Maggie Sawyer, Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor and Sharon Leal as Miss Martian.
