Deadline is exclusively reporting that Breck Eisner is in talks with Paramount Pictures to direct the feature reboot of horror franchise Friday the 13th.
Breck Eisner’s credits include Sahara, The Crazies and The Last Witch Hunter. The report points out that Breck’s father Michael ran Paramount Pictures during the days when the Friday the 13th rights were acquired, which then went on to become one of the most well-known horror franchises around.
The original film was released back in 1980 which followed a group of camp counselors is stalked and murdered by an unknown assailant while trying to reopen a summer camp which, years before, was the site of a child’s drowning.
Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes will be producing the project and the film along with Brad Fuller and Andrew Form and the film is expected to be released sometime next year.
